Why St. Helena endorsed Measure C

The city of St. Helena is the only public entity in Napa County to take a position on Measure C. We endorsed it.

Our resolution of endorsement recites that “we have a fiduciary duty to ensure the health and life safety of our City’s residents.” We noted that this duty includes protecting the quality and quantity of water flowing in Bell Canyon Reservoir, our primary source of potable water.

We then spelled out the basis for our support, which was grounded in Measure C’s enhanced buffer zones around our watershed’s creeks and small streams. The core of our position, as stated in our resolution, is that “these enhanced zones provide much needed protection from chemical and sediment loading of the Reservoir.”

By resolving to endorse Measure C, and explicitly doing so in discharge of our fiduciary responsibility for health and life safety of our city, we are strongly encouraging our citizens and, by extension, all residents of Napa County to vote for Measure C.
